Nervous System Focused Chiropractic

The term most misunderstood in chiropractic. What it actually means for your nervous system
Most people hear the word 'subluxation' and think it means a bone is out of place. That's the old definition from decades ago, and it misses the point entirely.
A quick look at what is inside your guide.
Misconception: It's Just a Bone Out of Place
The 'bone out of place' model is outdated and mechanically incorrect. Subluxation describes a functional state of the nervous system, not a static structural mislocation.
Misconception: You'd Know If You Had One
Most subluxation patterns develop gradually from accumulated stress, and the nervous system compensates so effectively that people are unaware of significant dysfunction until symptoms appear.
Misconception: It Only Causes Back Pain
Subluxation patterns affect the entire nervous system. A spinal segment under stress can affect any organ or system whose nerve supply passes through that level, not just the muscles around it.
Misconception: It Goes Away on Its Own
Without specific nervous system input, an adjustment, the stress pattern sustaining the subluxation continues. The nervous system has no internal reset mechanism for chronic activation states.
Misconception: You Need to Feel It to Have It
The absence of pain doesn't mean the nervous system is functioning optimally. Many people carry significant subluxation patterns without obvious symptoms, until the compensating capacity is exceeded.
"Two people can have the same subluxation pattern and show up with completely different symptoms. One gets headaches. Another gets digestive issues. Another can't sleep. Different outputs, same nervous system source."
Subluxation is really about your nervous system. It's what happens when your body's stress response gets stuck in the 'on' position and can't turn off. Think of it like an alarm system that was designed to activate during emergencies, but then it never shuts off. Your nervous system stays on high alert, running its protective pattern continuously. And when that alarm stays on, everything downstream gets affected: digestion slows, sleep suffers, immune response weakens, pain signals ramp up.
