Nervous System Focused Chiropractic
Free Guide
How nervous system function changes daily life with scoliosis, even when the curve itself doesn't.
Most people with scoliosis have heard two options: watch it, or talk about surgery. There's a lot of space in between, and most of it never gets discussed.
A quick look at what is inside your guide.
Daily Stiffness and Pain
Aching or stiffness along the curved region, often worse in the morning or after prolonged sitting, a common result of asymmetric nervous system tension.
Postural Fatigue
Muscle fatigue and the effort of managing an asymmetric spine all day, the body using significant energy to compensate.
Uneven Shoulder or Hip Height
Visible postural asymmetry that can contribute to muscle imbalances, gait patterns, and secondary tension in the neck or lower back.
Rib and Breathing Discomfort
In thoracic scoliosis, rib cage asymmetry can affect breathing comfort, particularly during prolonged activity or deep breathing.
Worsening with Stress or Growth
Scoliosis that progresses or becomes more symptomatic during growth spurts or high-stress periods, times when the nervous system is under the most load.
"The goal is function, how freely the spine moves, how well the nervous system manages the curvature, and how much of daily life is limited by it. Function can change a lot more than most people expect."
Here's what's worth understanding: we cannot make a curved spine perfectly straight. That's not what we're working toward. But there's a significant difference between a spine that has a curve and a spine that's stuck. When the nervous system is under stress, the muscles on both sides of the curvature tighten unevenly and lock everything down. Pain, fatigue, and stiffness aren't just 'because of the curve', they're often because of how the nervous system is managing the curve. And that part can change.
