What the Webster Technique Actually Does

Dr. Saylor, Dr. Zach, and Dr. John

Why your pelvis matters for your comfort, your movement, and how your body feels as it changes through pregnancy.

If you've heard that 'a chiropractor can turn your baby,' here's what's actually true. The Webster Technique isn't about repositioning your baby. It's about your pelvis, and the nervous system connections that run through it.

What You'll Learn

A quick look at what is inside your guide.

1

Pelvic Pain and Pressure

Asymmetric pelvic tension creates pressure, instability, and pain in the hips, SI joints, and pubic area that often responds well to Webster Technique care.

2

Lower Back Pain

Sacral and pelvic tension is a common contributor to lower back pain during pregnancy, and easing that tension may support more comfortable movement.

3

Pelvic Tension and Restricted Movement

When the pelvis is carrying uneven tension, Webster Technique care focuses on the mother's sacral and pelvic function to support more balanced, comfortable movement. We do not turn, reposition, or treat the baby. Any questions about your baby's position should be discussed with your OB or midwife.

4

Round Ligament Pain

The round ligaments support the uterus and attach to the pelvic floor. When pelvic tension is asymmetric, these ligaments experience uneven strain, a primary cause of round ligament pain.

5

Hip and SI Joint Discomfort

Sacroiliac tension is one of the most common, and most under-addressed, sources of pregnancy discomfort, and it is a common focus of Webster Technique care.

"Webster Technique focuses on the mother's sacral and pelvic function, not on fetal positioning. We do not turn, reposition, or treat the baby. Any changes are a result of the mother's own body functioning more comfortably. Your body creates the space. Your body does the work."

During pregnancy, the muscles and ligaments supporting your pelvis naturally shift. Hormonal changes, postural adaptation, and the growing demands of your baby's weight all create opportunities for pelvic tension to develop unevenly. When it does, it can create imbalance and less ease of movement for you.
